One of the unique environments offered in Sun Valley is the ability to gravel ride in one of the world’s most exquisite locations in the lower 48. For 2024, Rusch Academy, June 20-23, 2024, provides an opportunity to ride not only in this awe-inspiring area but also with the world’s best riders to elevate and unlock your gravel biking skills and knowledge potential while enjoying four full days on a ranch among the revered Pioneer Mountains in south-central Idaho.
“It’s not every day you have an opportunity to ride alongside a seven-time world champion adventure athlete, two Gravel Hall of Famers and a licensed mental health professional focused on movement being key to connecting the mind and body,” said Rusch Academy Founder Rebecca Rusch. “You can be the best version of yourself backed by 40 years of experience, knowledge and athleticism while enjoying the beauty and terrain in one of Idaho’s most desired gravel riding locations.”
Providing experienced coached riding, deliciously healthy and gourmet meals and all the beauty of riding in open space while improving your skills and overall well-being, Rusch Academy bridges the gap between training the body and the mind. For four days, you will ride in Copper Basin in the Salmon-Challis National Forest, the historic native land of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribe, which is capped by the iconic Pioneer Mountains while lodging at the rustic and cozy Wild Horse Creek Ranch, which offers several options and price points for rooms, room sharing or camping with access to the lodge amenities.
Coaching at the 2024 Rusch Academy is Yuri Hauswald, a two-time solo winner of the 24-Hours of Adrenaline and 9th place finisher at the 2006 24-Hour Solo World Championships, 2015 winner of Unbound 200. Joining Hauswald is cycle legend Jay Petervary, who has dominated the world of ultra-endurance cycling for decades. With victories in renowned events like the Tour Divide, Iditarod Trail Invitational, and Silk Road Mountain Race, he stands as a paragon of resilience and skill. In addition, Dave Jones, a Certified Mindfulness Meditation teacher, adjunct professor at Boise State University and cyclist, will provide the wellness element that connects the entire Rusch Academy experience along with founder Rebecca Rusch, a life-long explorer, seven-time world champion athlete, Gravel and MTB Hall of Fame inductee, speaker, author and Emmy Award winner.
The daily schedule will include a Wednesday evening arrival welcome session at Sturtevants Bike Shop in Ketchum, a Thursday camp first day with a 25-mile ride from Ketchum over Trail Creek Summit into Wild Horse Creek Ranch. Friday and Saturday include yoga, breakfast and full days in the saddle. Each day features ride options of varying distance/elevation followed by afternoon lunch, mindfulness practices and goal setting. Evening entertainment, excellent food, relaxation and recovery. Sunday, enjoy a final day of a ripping (but safe) descent from Trail Creek Summit and some sweet singletrack before a late farewell lunch with the crew.
Along with attending Rusch Academy, June 20-23, 2024, you will receive assorted GU nutrition supplied throughout camp, professional mechanic and ride support, opportunities to ride with small groups for intermediate to advanced riders, fireside relaxation, conversation and general unwinding. In addition, there is guaranteed, discounted entry to Rebecca’s Private Idaho 2024.
Rusch Academy is the ultimate gravel riding camp setup that focuses on and embraces riding while elevating your skills with coaches and staff who will ensure an unforgettable experience. While you train the body, focus the mind, open the heart, unlock potential and enjoy the environs of Sun Valley, where you may want to add some days to enjoy #GravelLessTraveled.
