There is a wide variety of Halloween events coming up and we hope this list helps you decide where to be!
The festivities begin this weekend with a screening of “Hocus Pocus 2” from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Lecture Hall at The Community Library in Ketchum. “It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century Sanderson sisters, and they are looking for revenge! Now it is up to three high-school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve.” This movie is rated PG and runs 103 minutes. No registration required. Popcorn will be provided!
Sun Valley Film Festival screening “Late Night with the Devil” at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, at The Argyros Performing Arts Center.
“Late Night with the Devil” is set on Halloween 1977, revolving around the syndicated talk show ‘Night Owls’ hosted by Johnny Carson’s rival, Jack Delroy. Played by the sensational David Dastmalchian, known for his roles in “The Suicide Squad” and “Oppenheimer,” Delroy’s attempts to save his sinking show take a dark turn with a live possession planned for a special Halloween episode. The found-footage style film offers an immersive experience, blending the raw excitement of live television with the dark undertones of 1970s exorcism movies.
As an added treat, attendees are encouraged to don their Halloween costumes to win enticing door prizes, including Sun Valley Film Festival Film passes, a coveted Yeti Cooler, and more. For those 21 and over, complement your horror-filled night with a complimentary devilishly delicious Tito’s Handmade Vodka concoction. Sun Valley Resort is hosting their Halloween Fall Festival from 12 – 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28. They will have a fun afternoon of live music, ice skating, wagon rides, a movie screening and more.
In Bellevue the annual Peak’s Haunted Garden returns from 6 – 9 p.m. on Oct. 30 – 31. The theme for this year is “Medieval Magic” so anything to do with topics from those genres. This popular event is hosted by Judith Peak, who has been decorating her porch since her kids were young, and now the fun extends all over her property. She asks for donations which she gives to help support the Bellevue Library. Her garden is located at 311 South 2nd Street in Bellevue. If you would like to volunteer to help scare people, call Judith at 208-720-1228.
The Bellevue Library is also hosting a Trunk or Treat from 3:15 – 5:15 p.m. on Oct. 31 on the bike path by the Library.
In Hailey there will be Halloween Hoopla from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. in downtown Hailey. Kids can get candy from participating businesses with orange and black balloons. The Kiwanis club is doing a costume contest every 15 minutes from 3:30 – 5:15 p.m. at Hailey Town Square.
